ClipSnip is built on a simple principle: your clipboard history is yours, and yours alone. This privacy policy explains exactly what data we collect (spoiler: almost nothing), what we don't, and how ClipSnip protects your privacy.
ClipSnip does not collect, store, or transmit your clipboard data. Everything you copy stays on your computer, encrypted with AES-256, and is never sent to the cloud, our servers, or anywhere else.
%APPDATA%\ClipSnip\clips.dbsettings.jsonAll of this data stays on your computer. ClipSnip has no servers, no cloud sync, and no remote storage. Your clipboard history never leaves your machine.
When you purchase ClipSnip:
We use your email address only to deliver your license key and send critical product updates (e.g., security patches). We will never sell, rent, or share your email with third parties for marketing purposes.
%TEMP%\ClipSnip-debug.log) and are never sent to us unless you choose to share themYour clipboard database is encrypted at rest using SQLCipher with AES-256 encryption — the same standard used by 1Password, Signal, and other security-focused apps. The encryption key is stored securely in Windows Credential Manager, protected by your Windows user account.
ClipSnip automatically detects and masks sensitive data before displaying it:
Masked data is still stored fully (so you can paste it), but when displayed in the ClipSnip interface, it appears as sk_live_••••4ad9 to prevent shoulder-surfing or accidental exposure.
ClipSnip automatically excludes clipboard monitoring for common password managers (1Password, Bitwarden, KeePass, LastPass) so that passwords copied from these apps are never captured. You can add additional apps to the exclusion list in Settings.
ClipSnip checks for updates by requesting a manifest file from our update server (hosted on Cloudflare R2). This request includes:
Update checks happen automatically on app startup (skippable after 5 seconds) and when you manually check for updates. No personal information or usage data is transmitted.
When you purchase ClipSnip, payment processing is handled by Lemon Squeezy. They collect:

Bottom line: ClipSnip is designed to be private by default. We can't see your clipboard history because it never leaves your computer. We collect the absolute minimum data needed to deliver your license and keep the app secure. No tracking, no telemetry, no cloud — just local clipboard history that's yours to control.
